Unser Erleben ist untrennbar von der Welt in der wir sind

John Dewey über menschliches Erleben als Interaktion:

The statement that individuals live in a world means, in the concrete, that they live in a series of situations. The meaning of the word ‘in’ is different from its meaning when it is said that pennies are ‘in’ a pocket or paint is ‘in’ a can. It means . . . that interaction is going on between individuals and objects and other persons. The conceptions of situation and of interaction are inseparable from each other. . . . In actual experience, there is never any such isolated singular object or event; an object or event is always a special part, phase, or aspect, of an environing experienced world—a situation. (Dewey 1938)
